Hey Everyone welcome to Kariega Classic 2020!

After careful consideration and chatting to sponsors their is nervousness about negative exposure in these troubled pandemic times. The authorities have cancelled every organized event in the Port Alfred area and as much as we had consent providing the numbers remain below 250 riders, this has now changed. The ride will still happen but in a social format with as little human contact as possible and no branding.

We have thus decided to do the following.

Open Start:

The gates will be open from 7am to 8am and you can start between 7:30 and 9am. The routes remain the same with the Gold (51km), Silver(27km) and Bronze 16km. Trail Run distances are now 13.5km and 5.2km. These are all marked in Dayglo orange with splits signs.

Waterholes:

We will have unmanned water holes en-route and it will be self service

Finish Line:

This will be unmanned to avoid human contact and your Finisher Medal will be on the table and for you too collect.

Timing:

In order to track everyone’s times, we will be using Strava. The segments will all be loaded before hand and once you finish the ride you will feature on the segment for the day. Please ensure you have Strava, if you don’t have an account, click here. It’s free to use and any smart phone can record a Strava activity which will ensure you feature on the standings. You will need to start the activity before you start your race. Your time will only start once you make it onto the segment, so don’t worry about starting it too early.

Food and Drinks:

The Southwell Club will still be serving food but it will be limited and there will be no alcohol for sale.

Late Registrations

Entries will close at 5pm on the 15 December and NO LATE REGISTRATIONS will be allowed. You will receive an SMS with entry details and this will need to be shown at the gate. Normal temp checks and register will be enforced. No entry without SMS will be allowed.
